Why AFTER exists

Every defining chapter eventually comes to an end. Military service. Professional sport. A lifelong career. A mission. A title. The world celebrates people for what they achieve. Far less attention is given to what comes next. Yet for many, that transition becomes the hardest chapter of all. AFTER exists to change that. Through storytelling, experiences and community, we're helping people rediscover purpose beyond the role that once defined them.
Veterans Leaving behind purpose, structure and brotherhood can be one of life's greatest transitions. Elite Athletes When the crowd disappears, identity often becomes the next opponent. High Performers Executives, first responders, founders and leaders all experience defining chapters that eventually end.

Different journeys. The same question. What's next?
Beyond the Uniform Every person who serves makes sacrifices that most civilians will never fully understand. Some spend years preparing for elite special operations roles where selection is measured in months of relentless physical and mental testing. Others serve in combat units, aviation, intelligence, logistics, medicine, engineering, cyber operations and countless other roles that keep missions moving around the world. Whether serving on the front line or behind it, military life is built around something bigger than yourself - purpose, discipline, teamwork and service. The mission becomes your identity. The people beside you become family. Then one day, it ends. Each year, around 200,000 U.S. service members transition into civilian life, leaving behind not only a career, but often a community, a routine and a deep sense of purpose. For some, the transition is smooth. For many, it is the most difficult mission they will ever face. Finding meaningful work, rebuilding identity, reconnecting with family life and replacing the brotherhood of military service can be an enormous challenge. The structure that once defined every day disappears, while the skills and experiences that made them exceptional can often be difficult to translate into civilian life. The reality is confronting. Every year, more than 6,300 U.S. veterans die by suicide - an average of approximately 17.5 every day. Even more concerning, the majority were not connected to VA healthcare or support services in the year before their death. These are not just statistics. They represent fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, sons, daughters, teammates and friends whose next chapter never came. At AFTER, we believe the answer isn't to replace the incredible organizations already doing this work. It's to help more people find them. Through powerful storytelling, live experiences and strategic partnerships, we shine a spotlight on the charities, veteran organizations and transition programs changing lives every day. We use our platform to raise awareness, generate funding and connect veterans and their families with the support, opportunities and communities that already exist. Most importantly, we want every veteran to know that the end of military service is not the end of purpose. It's simply the beginning of what's next.
Beyond the Final Whistle Professional sport presents a different challenge - but often with the same outcome. An athlete may spend twenty years pursuing one dream. Training. Competing. Sacrificing. Winning. Then suddenly... The phone stops ringing. An injury changes everything. A contract isn't renewed. Retirement arrives earlier than expected. Studies suggest many elite athletes experience significant mental health challenges during retirement, with identity loss, financial stress and depression becoming common themes. Even athletes who earned millions during their careers can struggle once competition ends due to lifestyle changes, poor financial guidance or simply losing the environment that defined them. Their greatest challenge is often no longer competing. It's discovering who they are without the jersey.
Purpose Doesn't End When Service Does AFTER isn't about looking backwards. It's about helping people move forwards. We believe every veteran, athlete and high-performing individual has another chapter waiting to be written. Sometimes that's starting a business. Sometimes it's mentoring young people. Sometimes it's making knives in a workshop. Launching a company. Building furniture. Working in conservation. Becoming a filmmaker. Joining another mission. Or simply finding a community that understands. There isn't one path. There are thousands. Our goal is to help people discover theirs. What We Do AFTER uses the power of storytelling, live experiences and strategic partnerships to help people find purpose beyond their defining chapter. Through premium television, documentaries, podcasts and digital content, we share authentic stories that build understanding, inspire action and celebrate life after service. Through concerts, sporting events, retreats and community experiences, we bring veterans, athletes, public figures, business leaders and the wider community together - not just to connect, but to raise awareness, generate funding and shine a spotlight on the organizations already doing incredible work. Rather than reinventing the wheel, our goal is to amplify it. We connect people with trusted charities, transition programs, mentors and new opportunities, helping ensure that no one has to navigate their next chapter alone. Our Mission Our mission is simple: Celebrate the people who gave everything to become extraordinary. Help them discover what comes next. Bring the public along for the journey. Because the end of one chapter should never be the end of someone's purpose. It should be the beginning of their AFTER.
